Consignment Tips:
This page is designed to give you a better idea as to what sells, why, and how to do it.
CLEAN: It is extremely important that the clothing items you bring in are freshly washed. Especially if they have been stored away in an attic or basement. The same goes for fabric pieces that are used for baby gear. For example exersaucer seats, bassinet bedding, chair covers, swing covers, carseat covers, etc. The same goes for toys. Keep in mind that most kids at some point will put a toy in their mouth, the cleaner a second hand toy looks the better.
WRINKLE FREE: Remember that your clothing is going to be put up on racks next to others, so what is going to make your shirt stand out? If it is wrinkle free it will be more appealing. Also if someone sees a wrinkled dress they will automatically assume that it will need to be ironed every time, something that most people will not make time for.
LINT FREE: Removing lint balls, pills, animal hair, loose strings, makes an item appear to be less worn. Having "like new" in a consignment store makes every shopper happy.
BRAND NAMES: No matter how cute or not, brand names sell the best. Realistically most people can afford to shop for brand new items at Zellers. But not everyone wants to spend $40 on a Tommy Hilfiger shirt. So plain and simple the better names get picked first. Some popular ones are: Tommy Hilfiger, Roots, Gap, Old Navy, Gymboree, Oshkosh, Carter's, Mexx and so on.
